The purpose of this workshop is to define the JINA collaboration's role in developing models of galactic chemical evolution, given the requirements and constraints produced as a result of existing and future observational databases. This workshop will focus on determining what the current theoretical, observational, and experimental limiting factors are in our understanding of galactic chemical evolution in the Local Group of galaxies, and what JINA can uniquely contribute to making progress in this field. This workshop will primarily involve members of the JINA collaboration, but we will also invite select non-JINA scientists to attend and give talks. An incomplete list of topics discussed at this meeting will be:

• GCE models: what is the current state-of-the-art?
• Stellar evolution models: limitations and dependances on reaction rates
• Binary/multi-star evolutionary models: current state-of-the-art?
• Current and upcoming observational surveys/databases, and what we can glean from these databases
• What are the specific open questions that can be addressed in the next few years?
• What specific projects will the JINA collaboration undertake in the next few years to advance our understanding of galactic chemical evolution?
