  • Pre-banquet Reception (18:30–19:30): flights of small appetizers
  • Main Banquet (19:30–21:30):
    • Starter: Spring Greens GF/V with Candied Walnuts, Tart Cherries, Feta and Maple Vinaigrette (gluten-free vegetarian, vegan)
    • Main entree of your choice (GoogleForm sent on March 14th):
      • Thai Risotto (GF/VG) Lemongrass, Ginger, Grilled Seasonal Vegetables and Edamame Risotto Served with Wild Mushrooms, Baby Bok Choy and Toasted Sesame
      • Churrascaria Salmon (GF) with Chimichurri, Potato Medley with Roasted Peppers and Onions and Steamed Seasonal Vegetables
      • Slow-Braised Boneless Short Rib (GF) with Roasted Jalapeno Zhug, Saffron Tahchin and Za’atar Carrots
    • Dessert: Whipped Cheesecake with Lemon Curd, Fresh Berries and Candied Almonds (gluten-free, vegetarian)

Location

MSUFCU Club (formerly known as Huntington Club), Spartan Stadium: the volunteer will guide participants to walk from Kellogg to the banquet location. Parking is available in lots 62 (north end of the stadium) and 79 (south end of the stadium); parking is $2/hour. Please be on time; there are limited hours to access the elevators to the banquet location. Contact the organizers in advance if you have to arrive late.

Performance by Young Hyun Cho (MSU)

Young Hyun Cho’s concert activities have taken her around the globe. She has performed in Germany, Austria, Italy, Belgium, Hungary, Spain, Poland, the Czech Republic, South Korea, China, Thailand, Malaysia, and throughout the United States. She has performed as a soloist at world prestigious venues, including Vienna Musikverein and Berlin Philharmonic Concert Hall. In addition, she released her CD with the Last Three Beethoven Piano Sonatas under the SONY label.

As a guest faculty artist, Young Hyun Cho has taught and performed at many institutes and universities around the world. As a featured soloist, she performed with Berlin Symphony Orchestra, Filarmonica della Calabria of Italy, North Czech Philharmonic Orchestra Teplice, Bohuslav Martinu Philharmonic Orchestra, Orquesta Sinfónica de la Región de Murcia of Spain, Budapest Symphony Chamber Orchestra MAV, Euro Sinfonietta Wien, Korean Broadcasting System Symphony Orchestra, Korean Symphony Orchestra, Seoul National Symphony Orchestra, Eurasian Philharmonic Orchestra, Daejeon Philharmonic Orchestra, Eastman Symphony Orchestra, Holland Symphony Orchestra, New Philharmonic Orchestra of Irving, Northeast Orchestra, and University of Texas at Arlington Symphony Orchestra.

Young Hyun Cho is an associate professor of piano at the Michigan State University College of Music. Prior to this, she served as an associate professor at the University of Texas at Arlington. She received her Doctoral Arts of Musical degree from the Eastman School of Music, Master’s degree and Graduate Performance Diploma from Peabody Conservatory, and Bachelor’s degree from Seoul National University.

Program

The program includes selections from the first three published piano sonatas by Beethoven (Op. 2) and other pieces by various composers.
