Local Children's Camp Programs

If you are traveling with children to Lattice 2018 conference, here are a few options:

  • Summer Camps by City of East Lansing

    The week of July 23rd will probably be themed "Pitching a Great Game" with activities that revolve around games and sports such as baseball, kickball, horseshoes, etc. More details should be available in mid-March.

    • Ages 3 to 5: Fairytale Science
    • Ages 5 to 7: Inside Me!
    • Ages 7 to 9: Fizzing Chemistry

    • Ages 10 to 14: Arcade Science

  • They are hosting a session July 23–27 that is split into a morning session and an afternoon session. They do allow for all-day camp and lunch supervision.

  • Woldumar Nature Center
    • July 23–27: Modern Wilderness Survival
    • (Optional Overnight Campout) Water filters, flint and steel, backpacking stoves, and fishing all play a role in modern wilderness survival. Learn about gear that makes wilderness recreation easier now than ever! You will even have an opportunity to take home your very own piece of char cloth.

    • Camping Out!
    • Session 5 include an optional campout at Woldumar! Campers must be at least 7 years old and will sleep in a tent with like-aged children. Woldumar will provide Thursday-night dinner, s'mores, and Friday-morning breakfast. On Monday, each camp group will organize their packing list. Each campout is limited to the first 30 registrants, and requires an additional $30 fee ($45 after the camp session begins).

    • Camp Discovery Jr. (PreK–1st grade)
      • 1/2 day 9am–12pm, Monday-Friday Members: $90/camper; Non-members: $105/camper
      • Full day 9am–4pm, Monday-Friday Members: $160/camper; Non-members: $195/camper

    • Camp Discovery (1st–7th grade)
    • 9am–4pm, Monday–Friday Members: $160/camper; Non-members: $195/camper
      Camp Discovery offers children time to explore, observe, and study nature through fun hands-on activities, games, and crafts. Campers will investigate Woldumar's outdoor wonderland through age-appropriate activities based on a weekly theme. Every session will end with an all-camp "Family Festival" which parents, guardians, and other family members are encouraged to attend.
