Horace A. Smith

After over 40 years of research on variable stars, Horace A. Smith has decided to retire from the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Michigan State University. During his career, Horace has conducted important research on a wide variety of classically pulsating stars, and wrote "the book" on RR Lyrae stars. On the occasion of Horace's upcoming retirement, we will be hosting a conference to celebrate his long and influential career. The conference will be held in the Biomedical and Physical Sciences Building on the campus of Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan, on May 30-31, 2013.

In addition to talks and poster sessions to take place during each day in the main Physics-Astronomy Conference Room (BPS Bldg. room 1400), registered conference attendees will have additional activities available in the evenings from the Wednesday before the conference begins through Friday.
