Doppler effect

• When a sound source and an observer are moving relative to each other with a relative velocity v0, the perceived frequency f’ is different from the original frequency f and

• Approaching: f’ = f (1 + v0/v)

• Moving away: f’ = f (1 _ v0/v)

• v is the speed of sound
