Stars and Moon - Planetarium Activity
Name: ________________________
Student Number: ______________
1. On the February sky map on the reverse side draw small
circles around as many of the stars from your list of 16 brightest
northern hemisphere stars as you can find, and write their
names next to each star. (1 point for each correct star, but
minus 1/2 point for each incorrectly labeled star.) Consult the stars
on the planetarium dome for tonight to help you locate the stars.
2. On the dome we will display the stars, planets and Moon for the
night of February 14 at 6 pm. Locate the Moon on your sky map.
Draw a small image of what the Moon looks like on the dome
showing: Its location with respect to the stars and what part is light
and what part is dark. Label this with the date and time. We will
then let time advance until 9 pm. For this new time again draw
an image of the Moon showing: Its location with respect to the stars
and what part is light and what part is dark. Label this second image
with the later time.
