Examples for cosmology and astrophysics
Example #1
Problem:
If a galaxy which is located 2.0 billion light years away is receeding at 10 percent the speed of light, what is Hubble's constant in km/sec per million l.y.?
Solution:
Ten percent of the speed of light is 3.0 E4 km/sec. Dividing this by 2000 gives Hubble's constant in the requested units.
15 km/sec per million l.y.
