Physics 231/231C Announcements
The final Exam will be 8:00-10:00 PM, Tuesday, May 3rd in room E100 of
the Veterinary Medical Center on the SE corner of Bogue St. and Wilson Rd.
For those students who can not take the final at that time,
the alternate final is Wednesday morning at 7:45 AM in 1415 BPS.
Dr. Pratt will be out of town Friday, April 15th. He will be unavailable
for Friday afternoon office hours but TAs will hold normal friday hours in the
help room.
Beginning March 25, there will be extra help room hours on Friday
afternoons. Whereas the room was staffed from 3PM-5PM previously, it will now
be staffed from 1PM-5PM.
For anyone seeking professional help on-line, we will have a TA answering
emails about homework problems every evening. To exploit this
once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for expert help, just send an email to phy231help@pa.msu.edu. Please
give detailed information to the TA so that he/she can efficiently answer your
question. For example, in addition to specifying the problem, provide the TA
the numbers you are using, and let him/her know what approaches you have tried
and perhaps list the answer you think the problem should have.
An alert reader pointed to an error in the formula sheet. The first
1-d motion equation should read x=(1/2)(v0+vf)t. The factor
of (1/2) was missing. The corrected version is posted under the exams link.
Please either throw away the version handed out in lecture, or scribble in
the factor of 1/2.
There was an error in the welcome message sent out to the lecture
students (Section 001). Exams for the lecture students will be given during
normal class hours, not during the evenings. The on-line students (section 730)
will take their exams in the evenings.
Here are copies of the welcome messages emailed at the beginning of the
course:
231 (section 1, lecture),
231c, (section 730, on-line),
231c (section 731, off-campus)
