EXAMS
- For each exam, each student should
bring a #2 pencil,a calculator for numerical calculation (Graphing
calculators are permitted) and a picture ID.
- EXAMS ARE CLOSED BOOK - CLOSED
NOTE.
A FORMULA
SHEET. will
be provided which contains useful formulas and physical constants.

If you have a University sanctioned trip or other conflict that
makes it impossible to take an exam, contact instructor
(prattsc@msu.edu) one week before the exam about taking the exam at a
an alternate time during the week of the exam. Make-ups after the week
of the exam will given a penalty unless there are exceptional circumstances.
- Midterms will have 10 numerical and 10 conceptual (e.g. T/F)
problems for 231 and 10 numerical and 12 conceptual problems for 231C.
(See grading criteria for explanation)
- Final will have 16 numerical and 16 conceptual problems.
- Approximately 1/2 of midterm
questions will be modified* homework problems.
- Approximately one eighth of problems
from second midterm will be modified* problems from first
midterm. Approximately one fourth of problems from third midterm will
be modified problems from first two midterms. Approximately half of
final will be modified problems from midterms, while other half will
be material covered after third midterm.
- Off campus students (Section 731) need to contact instructor
for instructions regarding exams.
* Modified could mean that if original problem gave x and asked for y, modified
problem might give y and ask for x.
