Physics 231/231C Announcements
An optional review session is scheduled for Sunday, April 30th at 2PM in
1410 BPS. We have the room until 4PM, but will quit early if people run out
of questions. Since the session is optional, there is no need to bring
clickers. Please come with questions.
Dr. Pratt will be out of town Monday, April, 24th.
The final exam for both PHY 231 and PHY 231C will be from 8:00-10:00 PM,
Thursday evening, May 4th, in #1281 Anthony Hall. A make-up final will be given
Friday morning, May 5th a 7:45 AM in 1420 BPS. Permission is required to take
the make-up final. Students who have other finals Thursday evening or who have
two other exams Thursday are eligible to take the make-up. If you are going to
take the make-up, you should email me with your reason, and if the reason is a
conflicting exam, give the name of the course.
Since our guest lecturer did not finish the material Thursday morning,
April 14, the due date for Set 10 will be pushed back to Wednesday, April 19,
at 11 PM, and Set 11 will be pushed back to Wednesday, April 26 a 11 PM. Set 12
will be due at the normal time, Monday, May 1.
The final exam will have 32 questions. 16 are conceptual, 16 are
numerical. 16 refer to the material of the first 9 HW sets, while the other 16
refer to the last 3 HW sets. For the 16 "old material" questions, I will use
only questions from the PHY 231 and PHY 231C midterms, and modify them for the
final. You can find these 6 midterms by scrolling to the bottom of the LON-CAPA
navigation page. Modifications could be minor (e.g. giving x and asking for t,
rather than giving t and asking for x) or they could be more substantial, such
as changing a numerical problem to a conceptual problem.
Here are copies of the welcome messages emailed at the beginning of the
course:
231 (section 1, lecture),
231c, (section 730, on-line),
