EXAMS
- For each exam, you should bring a #2 pencil, a calculator for numerical calculations
(graphing calculators are permitted) and a picture ID.
- There will be four 50 min midterm exams. The exams will be closed book,
but you may bring one 8-1/2 x 11 inch or smaller sheet of hand-written notes and equations (you may cover both sides of the sheet).
These sheets cannot be shared. Midterm exam questions will be both numeric and conceptual, such as with true/false answers.
- There will be no make-up exams.
However, each in-class exam will be followed by a partial-credit exam solved under Loncapa.
By solving the partial-credit exam,
a student can increase his midterm score by 30%*(partial-credit score - in-class score).
- A midterm will be on material read up to and including the week that preceeds the midterm. The emphasis will
be on the new not yet tested material.
- There will be one comprehensive 2 h final exam. This will be again a closed-book, but this time you may bring
two 8-1/2 x 11 inch or smaller sheets of hand-written notes and equations (you may use both sides of the sheets).
Again, the sheets cannot be shared. There will be no partial-credit exam following the final.
