Kaleidagraph is installed on 5 computers in room 1248 (the "help" room).  That’s only 5 computers for many students, so you should concentrate on finishing your Kgraph work in class.

On these computers you will see Kgraph on the desktop.

1. When you start Kaleidagraph, you may get an error message "Failed to update the system registry.  Please try using Regedit."   Just click "OK" to this dialog and use Kaleidagraph as normal.

2. If you open a document from inside Kaleidagraph, you may get an error message "The operation has been cancelled due to a group policy object affecting this computer.  Please contact your Network Administrator."  Ignore that, too: click "OK" and open the file as normal from "Desktop", type "E:" (or "F:") in the blank Filename box and hit Enter, then you will see the files on your USB flash drive. "

Note: Excel is not loaded on the Helproom machines. And if you can't plot from an Excel file opened in Kgraph, you can highlight the data, then use Data|Column Format and select Float (instead of text). You may have to delete headings or other text from your imported file, or copy and paste it from the Excel file opened in Kgraph to another Kgraph data window.

Unfortunately, you can't print from Kgraph in the help room.  So save your work to your USB drive and you can continue working or print in class.

Details:

The computers with Kgraph are listed on the board.   The correct accounts to use for these computers are helproom-nn, where nn is the machine number, with the usual password posted in the help room.  You must log into the TEACHING domain, rather than locally on the computer.  If you don’t use the correct login info, you will not have access to your USB flash drive.
