And-Or Terms Generated by the Level 1 Calorimeter Trigger ------------------------------------------------------------- Initial Revision: 15-JUNE-2000 Current Revision: 20-DEC-2001 The purpose of this file is to list the And-Or Terms that are generated by the Level 1 Calorimeter Trigger, give the generally "physicist understood" mnemonic for each Term, list the Framework And-Or Input used by each term from the L1 Cal Trig, and list the source within the L1 Cal Trig of each term. Notes: General format for the L1 Calorimeter Trigger Terms is: CAL(n,e,q,eta) where: n: count threshold (number of objects for the count to be compared to) e: threshold Et energy in GeV or e0, e1, or Low, Hi q: Quadrant - phi sectors: q0, q1, q2, q3 eta: Region - eta sectors: N,C,S In general, the arguments appearing in parentheses are quantities that can be set by COOR. Exception to this are: quadrants, regions. Issues related to constraints in the trigger hardware: All the CEQ, CER(,Lo,) and CEM(,rs0) terms use/share EM Ref Set #0 All the CER(,Hi,) and CEM(,rs1) terms use/share EM Ref Set #1 All the CJQ, CJR, and CJT(,rs0) terms use/share JET Ref Set #0 The hardware that generates the Quadrant and Region Terms is hard wired to certain reference sets and thus the reference sets do not appear as arguments in these terms. Estimated (or typical) Trigger Tower Reference Set Values are: EM Reference Set #0 = ? GeV aka Low EM Reference Set #1 = 5 GeV aka Hi EM Reference Set #2 = 7 GeV EM Reference Set #3 = 10 GeV JET Reference Set #0 = 2 GeV JET Reference Set #1 = 3 GeV JET Reference Set #2 = 5 GeV JET Reference Set #3 = 7 GeV And-Or Terms Generated by the Level 1 Calorimeter Trigger ----------------------------------------------------------- And-Or Term Number Mnemonic Description ------ --------- ------------------------------------------------------- First the EM and JET Quadrant Terms 0 CEQ(1,q1) These are the EM Quadrant Terms looking for a single EM 1 CEQ(1,q2) object in a quadrant. These are all based on EM 2 CEQ(1,q3) Reference Set 0. There is no Region constraint on 3 CEQ(1,q4) these terms. A Term in this group is asserted if in its quadrant 1 or more Trigger Towers is above its EM Ref Set 0 threshold. 4 CEQ(2,q1) These are the EM Quadrant Terms looking for 2 EM 5 CEQ(2,q2) objects in a quadrant. These are all based on EM 6 CEQ(2,q3) Reference Set 0. There is no Region constraint on 7 CEQ(2,q4) these terms. A Term in this group is asserted if in its quadrant 2 or more Trigger Towers are above their EM Ref Set 0 threshold. 8 CJQ(q1) These are the JET Quadrant Terms looking for a single 9 CJQ(q2) JET object in a quadrant. These are all based on JET 10 CJQ(q3) Reference Set 0. There is no Region constraint on 11 CJQ(q4) these terms. A Term in this group is asserted if in its quadrant 1 or more Trigger Towers is above its JET Ref Set 0 threshold. Next are the EM and JET Region Terms For EM the split between C and S,N Regions is at Trig Tower Eta Index 6-7 For JET the split between C and S,N Regions is at Trig Tower Eta Index 5-6 12 CER(1,Lo,S) These are the EM Region Terms looking for 1 "Low 13 CER(1,Lo,C) threshold" EM object in a Region. There is no Quadrant 14 CER(1,Lo,N) constraint on these terms. A term in this group is asserted if in its Region 1 or more Trigger Towers is above its EM Reference Set 0 threshold. 15 CER(1,Hi,S) These are the EM Region Terms looking for 1 "Hi 16 CER(1,Hi,C) threshold" EM object in a Region. There is no Quadrant 17 CER(1,Hi,N) constraint on these terms. A term in this group is asserted if in its Region 1 or more Trigger Towers is above its EM Reference Set 1 threshold. 18 CER(2,Lo,S) These are the EM Region Terms looking for 2 "Low 19 CER(2,Lo,C) threshold" EM objects in a Region. There is no Quadrant 20 CER(2,Lo,N) constraint on these terms. A term in this group is asserted if in its Region 2 or more Trigger Towers are above their EM Reference Set 0 threshold. 21 CJR(1,S) These are the JET Region Terms looking for 1 JET 22 CJR(1,C) object in a Region. There is no Quadrant 23 CJR(1,N) constraint on these terms. A term in this group is asserted if in its Region 1 or more Trigger Towers is above its JET Reference Set 0 threshold. 24 CJR(2,S) These are the JET Region Terms looking for 2 JET 25 CJR(2,C) objects in a Region. There is no Quadrant 26 CJR(2,N) constraint on these terms. A term in this group is asserted if in its Region 2 or more Trigger Towers are above their JET Reference Set 0 threshold. 27 CET(e0) This is just a Run I Global Total Et Term 28 CME(e0) These are just the Run I Missing Et Terms 29 CME(e1) Typical values to set for these Missing Et Thresholds 30 CME(e2) would be: 15, 20, 30, and 40 GeV 31 CME(e3) All the Following L1 Calorimeter Terms are connected to the Trigger Framework above And-Or Term Number 127 and thus can not be used as part of any Pseudo And-Or Term aka P-Term. The following are the Run I L1 Cal Trig Terms that are based on the count of the number of Trigger Towers that are above a given Reference Set. The following are the Run I L1 Cal Trig Terms that are based on the count of the number of Large Tile Areas in which the Jet Et is above a given Large Tile Reference Set. Note that the constraints in eta are achieved using just the standard Run I hardware and "non flat" Large Tile Reference Set.
