Notes on Hub Module SN 09: Latest Rev. 4-Oct-2019 -------------------------- - Start work on SN-09 on about 9-Oct-2017 - All work on the MSU Final Assembly of Hub SN-09 fits the basic outline as described in the trailer for Hub SN-07 and I will not repeat that text in this trailer sheet. MSU Final Assembly of Hubs SN-08 and SN-09 was dones at the same time. - The significant points that came up during the MSU Final Assembly of Hubs SN-08 and SN-09 are that: I need to cut a notch in the component side narrower lip of the front panel to allow access for the MiniPOD Heat Sink. I need to change yet again the design of the Front Panel Center Bracket. The two mounting screws for this bracket need to move 50 to 100 mils to give better thread coverage on the surface that clamps the discrete power wires and I need to reduce the heigth of this bracket to allow clearance of the MiniPOD Heat Sink. Mounting of the Front Panel to its Brackets is now dones with the following screw lengths: Bottom Bracket 2x 3/8" 4-40 Middle Bracket 2x 5/16" 4-40 Top Bracket 1x 1/4" 4-40 and 1x 1/2" 4-40 Initial Power Up Checks: ------------------------ - Check of the Hub SN-09 PLL clocks: 40.08 MHz PLL 40.0845 MHz free run 40.08 MHz PLL 40.0735 to 40.0842 MHz track 320.64 MHz PLL 40.0754 to 40.0820 MHz track Spare Oscillator 40.078601 MHz running Check both sides of all clock fanouts: to Hub logic, to ROD, to Backplane, to MGT Quad Reference clock. Once the range of the PLLs has been checked then install the "Spare Oscillator" and the two 255 Ohm pull-down resistors. Record the frequency of the Spare Oscillator (shown above). - Program the Flash Config Memory with the Safe/Foundation firmware. - Verify that this Hub Auto-Configures at power up. - Verify that the 4 front panel Ethernet jacks work. This Hub+ROD and the FTM were then shipped to Yuri at CERN on 21-Feb-2018. Full details of the testing are in the Hub post release log book in an entry starting 17-Feb-2018. At photo of this pair is in the Hub web pages. Hub SN-09 + ROD SN-04 Repair, Test and Ship: date: 25-Feb-2019 --------------------------------------------- Hub SN-09 with ROD SN-04 arrived back from Yuri on 5-Dec-2018. Repair the damage (broken lower handle, broken backplane MPOs, pinched Rec FO cable, broken lightpipes). Brought Hub SN-09 as close to final form as possible: install green front-panel, remove On/Off Swch, replace FPGA Heatsink, replaced the Rec MiniPOD with its FO ribbon, install lower handle Swch with wiring to Iso_12V control, install IPMC, install Enet Swch PROMs. Re-test with Rev 3 scripts in slots 1 and 2 and test Enet Switch. 22-Feb-2019 ship back to Yuri along with another USB-JTAG cable on air waybill 8112 7236 3235. CERN STF Over Temperature Incident: date: 27-Sept-2019 ----------------------------------- Hub SN-09 with its ROD SN-04 was in the CERN STF but powered Off during the over temperature incident on Sunday 15-Sept-2019. Return SN-09 to MSU: date 4-Oct-2019 -------------------- Hub SN-09 with its ROD V2 SN4 which had been in the STF but powered Off during the over temperature event was returned to MSU on October 3rd on DHL Air Way Bill 6540110113. Received SN-09 date: 06 DEC 2019 -------------- Unit received from CERN with ROD SN-04 installed. Visually inspected for damage during transit; saw none. MPOs are slightly deformed from use and/or being present for the overtemp event. Unit should be brought up to final production form: - Front panel - Remove coupling caps from switches A & B - Resistor values for front panel LEDs Probably, I will just walk through the entire procedure and make sure that everything is right. Update to SN-09 --------------- Walked through final production procedure on SN-09: - Verified all component removals - Verified component install/replace with correct values - Updated front panel - New Lemo connector and associated wiring - Removed coupling caps from ETH-A & ETH-B - Installed correct resistor values for panel lighting - Changed MPO connectors, as the originals were slightly deformed either from general use and/or from being present for the overtemp event. Unit is in our storage shelf until it can be tested under load and returned. 23 JAN 2020 - Removed previously installed IPMC bypass from the handle switch. Installed 0 Ohm jumper at location JMP5, enabling direct IPMC control of ISO_12V. 20 FEB 2020 - Hub SN09 and ROD V2SN04 have been packed up and are being handed off to FedEx today for shipping to CERN.
