Notes on Hub module SN-13: 7 OCT 2019 Begin work on Hub SN-13 Following provided instructions hub_msu_final_assembly_prod_only_print.txt Performed resistance checks as outlined in instructions, from ESD to GND, from GND to various supplies, and from supply to supply to look for shorts/loops. All OK. Fixed short across R583. It looked like when whoever was soldering in J2, they got a blob of solder on the resistor, bypassing it. 8 - 15 OCT 2019 Continued with work as outlined in provided instructions. Removed stated resistors/caps/etc.; began installations & replacements. 16 OCT 2019 Installed IPMC SN209. Finished steps up to initial power-up checks. Initial testing failed. Recalled step in instructions where the ATCA handle actuator may not be actuating the switch. Checked with meter and it wasn't completely opening the switch. Added layers of tape per documentation. Verified operation. Will finish initial power-up checks, power supply programming, and FPGA programming tomorrow. 17 OCT 2019 Initial power-up checks show that while all given supplies are working at their stated outputs, the DC converter at adress 42 (MGT_AVTT) is not showing up in the DLP software. It gives an I2C error (PEC), but lists the address as 50. Voltage checks out with the Fluke meter on all supplies. The ones that the software is able to detect are all within specified parameters. 18 OCT 2019 Re-checked all newly installed components. Found improper value resistor at R1101 - 15.7K instead of 27.4K. Retested card per instructions for power checks. Supply addresses 40-45 are now detectable by GUI software; 46 in the CLI interface. 21 OCT 2019 Completed final assembly of SN13.Installed FPGA heat sink, minipods, and F.O. ribbons. Programmed unit with safe/foundation firmware as outlined in instructions. Final bench voltage checks: DC/DC | Supply # | Vout | Iout | Fluke --------------------------------------- 1 1 .950 1.06 .951 2 2 1.01 0.06 1.001 3 3 1.20 0.00 1.200 5 4 1.20 1.81 1.197 6 5 1.81 0.50 1.799 7 6 1.82 11.44 1.797 8 7 3.34 2.125 3.309 Unable to do PLL checks as outlined in directions, as I have no scope and can't get the Fluke counter/timer to work right. 22 OCT 2019 SN-13 placed into #2 slot on 14SS for testing. 02 DEC 2019 Unit was moved from #2 to #1 and configured using Pawel's scripts via the instructions at /hub/testing/setup/ipbus_ibert/first_version 10 DEC 2019 Unit is out of the 14SS. Will be correcting some things I am unhappy with: - Ejector handles aren't as "smooth" as I would like. - F.O. ribbon cable routing. - F.O. ribbon clips for side of FPGA heat sink. Maybe some other minor things as I run across them. 11 DEC 2019 Made previously mentioned changes; - Fixed gritty ejection latches; - Corrected poor fiber ribbon routing; - Added clips for fiber ribbons to side of heat sink; - Re-did unit's power wiring, as when I first did it, I only followed instructions, and didn't know enough to be able to do it in a visually appealing manner. Unit is currently in our storage rack. 23 JAN 2020 - Removed previously installed IPMC bypass from the handle switch. Installed 0 Ohm jumper at ocation JMP5, enabling direct IPMC control of ISO_12V. 24 JAN 2020 - Unit went back into 14SS #2 to run with 18 as the "known good" hub. 14 APR 2020 - Powered unit up on the bench to update IPMC firmware. 06 AUG 2020 - This note is to confirm that this Hub has been cleaned with G3 flux remover. See l1calo/hub/hardware/details/Hub_Inventory_Status_Final_Assembly/FluxProblemOnHubs.txt for details. 17 SEP 2020 - This note is to comfirm that this Hub has been through the component replacement process as described at the bottom of the file at the above link.
