Build B of the And-Or Network Module ---------------------------------------- Current Rev. 14-JUN-1999 By early winter of 1999 it became clear that additional AONM's were going to be needed. At the Saclay Trigger Workshop the decision was taken to build more of them and a public announcement was made of this. Steve investigated the FPGA market and the decision was taken that the Build B AONM's would use the Xilinx XC4036XLA-09HQ240C FPGA in the Main Array and Board Support locations and the Xilinx XC4013XL-3PQ240C in the VME Interface location. A big question was how many to build. There are many ways to look at this question: how many are wanted with the faster Main Array FPGA's, how many new addition ones are needed to support the Run II L1 Cal Trig. Know Uses L1 FW 6x AONM 3x FOM 1x FOM++ L2 FW 4x AONM 4x FOM Test Stand 6x AONM 4x FOM 1x FOM++ For Run II L1 Cal Trig 10x Bougie 5x CTRO ?x Cal Trig Quadrants ? Rational concern to make enough Build B so that ALL instances of a given application would be on the same type of Xilinx part. Decided to use "turn key" process at ADCO. Decided to install all the parts except for the HP Fiber Optic Receivers for the Command Link. This saved about $50 per card. All other command link components were installed. Decide NOT to modify the raw pcb at all. Pin out of the new type of Xilinx part vs the current pcb layout was investigated and the decision taken to make no change. "updating" the silkscreen to the new version of THE-Card silkscreen was investigated and decision taken to make no change.
