Trigger Decision Module Paddle Board --------------------------------------- Initial Rev. 3-FEB-1998 Latest Rev. 7-AUG-1998 This version of the Trigger Decision Module Paddle Board Description file has all of the correct information about the post 3-AUG-1998 mapping of MSA_In signals to TDM functions and the "as built" mapping of spare TDM input signals on the paddle board. The signals that are distributed to the TDM Paddle Board are in the following 6 classes: Specific Trigger And-Or Fired (derived from And-Or Input Terms) Exposure Group signal derived from And-Or Input Terms Exposure Group signal derived from Front-End-Buzy Individual Disables Global Disables. Connectors J2, J5, J6, J7, and J8 are really 16 pin 90 degree solder tail 4 wall cable connectors. The signals received by these connectors are terminated by 110 Ohms resistors. Note that J2 is just for spare signals and may not even be installed at assembly. Connector J3 is a 34 pin (32 pin) press in long wire wrap tail straight connector that can be used to daisy chain the J3 signals across up to 8 TDM cards. The signals received by J3 are either not terminated on 7 out of 8 TDM paddle boards and then terminated in 110 Ohms on the 8th TDM paddle board or else possibly terminated in 880 Ohms on each TDM paddle board. \/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\ /\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/ 3-AUG-1998 It ends up that the original design of the TDM-PBrd is going to be very hard to layout in a finite number of layers. This is especially true in the vicinity of the J3 connector for the Exposure Group signals. But the exposure group signals on the TDM card are MSA_In signals that visit all 16 of the FPGA's in the Main Signal Processing Array so it may be possible to change the definition of these signals, i.e. change Exposure Group Function vs MSA_In mapping. By some simple re-labeling of these Exposure Group Signals it is possible to make the layout of the TDM_PBrd a lot cleaner. This is important because these are the signals that are bused across all 8 of the TDM's and they must fully settle during each tick. Re-labeling these signals should not cause a problem on the TDM because these are MSA_In nets that go to all 16 Main Signal Processing Array FPGA's and in the design of these FPGA's one can just re-map the MSA_In vs Function. To help understand this wiring let's make a table that shows the connection from each J1 pin pair (i.e. shows the J2 through J8 destination) and gives the signal a routing priority. The J3 signals that daisy chain across 8 TDM_PB's have highest priority, the And-Or Fired get #2 priority, the individual disables get #3 priority, and at the bottom of the list is the spare signals.
