THE-Card  Types

The purpose of this document is just to list the different type of THE-Card
and to explain the differences between these different type of THE-Card.
It is easy to explain these differences because the only differences are in
the area of traces that connect the Main Signal Processing Array inputs and
outputs to the Main Signal Array FPGA's.

Type of
THE-Card     Main Signal Processing Array Input and Output Connections

  TRM       MSA_Inputs on the TRM card are divided into inputs with a
            defined use and spare inputs.  There are 4 time 18 input
            signals with a defined use (18 = 16 Terms plus Gap and Strobe
            signals).  These 72 signals are arranged in the following way.
            4 Term input signals go to each Main Signal Processing Array
            FPGA and the Gap and Strobe input signals that are associated
            with a group of 16 Terms go to 4 FPGA's, i.e. the 4 FPGA's in
            a Mentor orientation column.

            Spare MSA_Inputs

            The 64 MSA_Outputs are arranged so that each of the FPGA's
            makes 4 output signals, i.e. the 4 Terms that are handled by
            that FPGA.


AONM-FOM    All 128 MSA_Inputs visit all 16 FPGA's.  Each FPGA in the Main
            Signal Processing Array has 4 MSA_Ouput connections.


  TDM       ?


  SC        32 of the MSA_Inputs are global and visit all Main Signal
            Processing Array FPGA's.  The remaining 96 MSA_Inputs are
            "individual" inputs (each one connects to only a single FPGA).
            These are setup so that 6 of the individual inputs connect
            to each of the 16 FPGA's.  Each FPGA has 19 spare I/O pins that
            are connected to via's (same spare I/O pin arrangement as the
            TRM card).  32 MSA_Ouputs come from FPGA #15 and the other 32
            MSA_Outputs come from FPGA #16.

  FM        The MSA_Inputs and MSA_Outputs on the FM card are setup in the
            following way:
