INSTRUCTIONS FOR STARTING THE L1 TRIGGER VME TRANSFER 68k PROGRAM ------------------------------------------------------------------- Rev. 3-JAN-1994 0. These are instructions for booting the L1 VME Transfer Computer (the L1 68k). These are NOT instructions for the L1 Trigger Control Computer (the L1 ELN node D0HTCC). 1. In the first floor MCH in rack M114 press the RESET switch on the 68020 VME processor module (module 133A-20). This is the left most module in the L1 VME crate. You will need to open the front door of rack M114 to do this. Please close the M114 front door after pressing the 68k's RESET. 2. On the 68k's VT-320 terminal, which hangs from the ceiling in front of rack M113 there should be a prompt from the 68020 BUG Monitor (133A-Bug>). The keyboard for this terminal is hung on a support on front near the top of rack of rack M113. At the 133A-Bug> prompt type: TM1 This puts the 68020 module in transparent mode. 3. The VT-320 terminal is now connected through the 68020 to the VAX host via a terminal server. Start or resume a session with LAT Service D0 Node D0HSB and log into the account: TRGUSER, password: TRGGER . 4. After you are logged into the D0HSB VAX host and have a dollar sign prompt from the VAX, redirect the VT-320 terminal back to the 68020 BUG Monitor by typing: "control A". After you type "control A" you will get a 133A-Bug> prompt. 5. Now load the code from the VAX host into the 68020 by typing: LO;X=TYPE TRGCUR:RUNME68020.ABS 6. When the code is finished loading (about 15 seconds) you will get a 133A-Bug> prompt. Now start the code running in the 68020 by typing: GO 95000 7. The L1 VME Transfer 68020 program will announce itself and then display messages which indicate; the Crate Header Version Number, the L1 VME Transfer Program Revision Number, the COMINT PROM's Revision Number, the Look Up System LSM Revision Number, the Trigger Hardware Revision Number, and the status of the initialization of the VBD, and the L1 interface. 8. The L1 Trigger VME 68020 Transfer Program is now running and ready for use. If you have removed the VT-320 keyboard from its supports then please return this keyboard to the supports on the front of rack M113.
