14-JUL-1993 : Modifications released by Philippe LAURENS, MICHIGAN STATE UNIVERSITY This release of LEVEL1 includes the following changes and new features I) Large Tiles II) Large Tile Jet List III) Trigger Tower Jet Lists IV) Copy Level 0 Crate V) Copied Andor Terms VI) Trigger Tower Energy Saturation VII) Level 0 Andor Terms VIII) Bug Fixes I) Large Tiles ----------- cf. D0 Note 1680 "Triggering on Large Tiles with the Level 1 Calorimeter Trigger" The Large Tile extension of the Calorimeter Trigger is now implemented in L1SIM. Until the high level programming from COOR_SIM becomes available, a temporary patch has been added to L1SIM to read Large Tile Reference Set Definition Files. Until COOR_SIM is upgraded, and to program Specific Triggers to use Large Tile requirements one needs to do the following: 1) Create one (or more) Large Tile Reference Sets Files, the syntax is the same as for Trigger Tower Reference Sets. There is however one additional syntax constraint for the Large Tile Reference Sets which do not apply to the Trigger Tower Reference Sets. The constraint is that any boundary used to define a range of Trigger Tower Indices cannot cut accross the coverage of a Large Tile, that is the range specified must cover an integral number of Large Tiles. The Large Tile segmentation in eta magnitude is 1..4, 5..8, 9..12, 13..16, 17..20, and 1..8, 9..16, 17..24, 25..32 in phi. e.g. LRG_TILE_LOW.LTRS THRESH_ET # (5.5) GeV and LRG_TILE_HIGH.LTRS TT_ETA(-20:-9) THRESH_ET # (10.5) GeV TT_ETA(-8:8) THRESH_ET # (8.0) GeV TT_ETA(9:20) THRESH_ET # (10.5) GeV 2) Add the names of these files (up to 8) to L1SIM.RCP \ARRAY LARGE_TILE_REFSET_0 'LRG_TILE_LOW.LTRS' \END \ARRAY LARGE_TILE_REFSET_1 'LRG_TILE_HIGH.LTRS' \END 3) Add the Large tile count Andor Terms to the TRIG_RESOURCES.CTL that COOR_SIM will use. COOR_SIM will then generate a TRIGGER.RES file that your L1SIM.RCP will need to point to. GE# shows the Large Tile Count Threshold. Note that the only thresholds allowed are 1, 2 and 3. The method described above is the preferred method. The file D0$LEVEL1$DATA:TRIGGER_RESOURCES.RCP already contains these Andor Terms, and could be used, providing it matches the TRIG_RESOURCES.CTL that COOR_SIM will use. 4) Add The appropriate Andor Term requirements in your trigger definition files. Lets pretend we would like ONE large tile above the high threshold (that we defined in steps 1 and 2 above) and TWO above the low threshold. l1c_lt_cnt_0_ge1 require l1c_lt_cnt_1_ge2 require 5) run COOR_SIM on your Trigger Definitions Files, making sure to pick up the extended TRIG_RESOURCES.CTL from step 3. II) Large Tile Jet List ------------------- A new service is implemented to create a Large Tile Jet List. A new value is now allowed for the input parameter LIST_TYPE of L1UTIL_JET_LIST_BUILDER. Or the user can directly call L1UTIL_LT_JET_LIST_BUILDER (in ZEBRA_UTIL). III) Trigger Tower Jet Lists ----------------------- The EM Et and Tot Et Jet Lists are no longer written in the raw data (starting with run Ib). Instead, one should use L1UTIL_JET_LIST_BUILDER (in LEVEL1 at the moment, but will be moved to ZEBRA_UTIL) to recreate the list at any time. Note that the raw data has all the information needed, so that no further context or parameters are required. Note that the flag that was at the beginning of the Jet List and showing if it was incomplete will not be set either. It will be the responsibility of the Level 2 and Offline code to always (re-) create the Jet Lists, without depending on this completion flag that will not be set anyway. A switch is available in L1SIM.RCP to create the Jet Lists, the default is CREATE_JET_LISTS .FALSE. !If TRUE, generate and write the EM Et ! and Tot Et Jet Lists in the Level 1 ! Data Block inthe TRGR bank. ! The default for run Ib and beyond is ! to NOT write the Jet Lists in the raw ! data but use L1UTIL_JET_LIST_BUILDER ! to recreate them as needed. The raw ! data has all the information needed, ! no further context is required. IV) Copy Level 0 Crate ------------------ This new feature copies the Level 0 crate from the input event to the output event. The default switch setting in L1SIM.RCP is COPY_L0_CRATE .FALSE. !If TRUE, copy the Level 0 crate found ! in the input event to the output event This feature requires that the input event includes a TRGR bank with a Level 0 Crate, either raw data or the output of a previous run of L1SIM that also propagated this crate or a simulated Level 0 Crate. V) Copied Andor Terms ------------------ This new feature allows L1SIM to read and copy the specified Andor Term States from the input event TRGR bank. These Andor Terms are then available for Specific Trigger Programming. The default is to copy the following terms \ARRAY COPIED_ANDOR_TERMS 'CALNE_PLS ' ! andor term 28 'SCINT_COSMIC ' ! andor term 94 'MRBS_LOSS ' ! andor term 121 'MICRO_BLANK ' ! andor term 125 'MIN_BIAS ' ! andor term 126 \END This feature requires that the input event includes a TRGR bank with a Level 1 Crate, either raw data or the output of a previous run of L1SIM. This is a complement to the existing feature that allows forcing Andor Terms to a constant state. \ARRAY FORCED_ANDOR_TERMS 'LV1_DBL_BUFFERED' FALSE ! andor term 104 'SKIP_ONE_BEAMX ' TRUE ! andor term 107 \END VI) Trigger Tower Energy Saturation ------------------------------- New values are listed in L1SIM.RCP that correspond to the expected saturation energies for run Ib. cf. D0 Note 1707. VII) Level 0 Andor Terms ------------------- The switch FORCE_VERTEX_CENTER in L1SIM.RCP allows the Calorimeter Trigger Energy Lookup to ignore the Level 0 Fast Vertex information. Previous releases of L1SIM would also force the state of the Level 0 Andor Terms to show a centered vertex. This is no longer the case, the Andor Terms are free to follow the Isajet Vertex information for MC events, or follow the Vertex read from an existing TRGR bank. VIII) Bug Fixes --------- - Fix output data format: trailer synch word position, and crate length. This problem could have caused difficulty locating the L1 Crate with GZFIND_CRATE. - Fix some of the Level 0 Andor Terms: Fix bug in L1C_LKP_NEG_Z (was wrong for bin -1) and L0_FAST_Z_CENTER ( was always set TRUE) - MUSIM.RCP had a file reference pointing to a disk on FNALD0 instead of D0$LEVEL1$DATA - Fix miscellaneous details identified by the Alpha FORTRAN compiler
