ADF-2 Cards vs Crate Slots ------------------------------ Initial Rev. 4-APR-2005 Current Rev. 26-May-2005 The purpose of this file is to describe the layout of the cards in each of the ADF Crates in the Run 2B L1 Cal Trig system at D-Zero. There are 4 "species" of ADF-2 cards. These species differ only in the amplitude of the BLS analog input signal that is required to produce a full scale ADC response. These 4 species of ADF-2 cards are known as: "A", "B", "C", and "D". For each ADF-2 card species the following table shows: the approximate amplitude of the BLS input signal that is required to cause a full scale ADC response, the TT eta range where this species of ADF-2 card is designed to be used, and the number of cards that were manufactured of this species. The 100 ADF-2 cards have serial numbers: A1:A21, B1:B21, C1:C21, D1:D37 In each ADF Crate, slot number 1 contains a Vertical Interconnect card. This VI card is the VME bus master for all VME I/O cycles in the crate. One ADF-2 card in each crate is a "Maestro". The Maestro ADF-2 card receives the timing and control signals from the SCLD and distributes these signals on the ADF Crate backplane. In all 4 ADF Crates the Maestro ADF-2 card is located in slot #11. These are listed above. In the production set of cards there are 4 maestro cards: one species A, one species B and two species D. A spare maestro has been made for each of these species. Species C has two spare maestro cards because they were the first cards to arrive from the assembly house and they were needed during initial testing. Species C has spares assigned from the first set of serial numbers because the first 10 cards to arrive were C1-C10 and they have different front panels than the other 90 cards. So for aesthetic reasons as few cards from C1-C10 were used in the production set. C1 and C2 have had flag wires installed and removed. These were used during the initial testing of the design. C4 was a demo card during the production readiness review and was not handled with good static precautions. C4 has passed all production tests though.
