The most recent version of this file can be found on the web at: http://www.pa.msu.edu/hep/d0/ftp/scl/crate_list.txt The Geographic Sections are divided into the following general detector system categories: DETECTOR SYSTEMS 0 : NR : Non-readout (i.e. no VBD->L3) Geographic Sections 1 : L1 : Level 1 Trigger Cal, Muon, Fiber, Luminosity L1 trigger, Framework 2 : L2 : Level 2 Trigger Preprocessors and Global L2 3 : MU : Muon Front End PDT, MDT drift tubes MSC scintillator 4 : CAL : Calorimeter Front End Calorimeter Intercryostat detector 5 : CFT : Central Fiber Tracker CFT Fibers Preshower Fibers CFT L1 trigger 6 : SMT : Silicon Microstrip Tracker Front End 7 : STT : Silicon Tracking Trigger (L2) CRATE NUMBER The crate number is the same as the geographic section number. The crate number is in a range from 0-127 (00-7F hex). General format bits 4-6 detector system bits 0-3 crate number within the detector system CRATE LOCATION Each crate is assigned to a rack and position (most are in the MCH). Location is of the form Mrack-position. The first digit of the rack is the floor (1-3). Racks X00-X13are on the south side (away from the door). Racks X14-X24are on the north side (with the door and Air Conditioner). Position in the rack starts at 0 at the top. Crates which are not geographic sections are still counted to determine the position. The parts of the Run II DAQ system that use VRB cards for readout have pairs of Geographic Sections associated with them. One Geographic Section (a non-readout Geographic Section) is used to send L1_Accepts to the "source" of data that goes to a crate of VRB cards, e.g. the Sequencers for the SVX systems. A second Geographic Section is used to send L1_Accepts and L2 Decisions to the VRBC that controls the crate of VRB cards. This is a normal Geographic Section, i.e. it sends data to Level 3. It is useful to know the mapping of these pairs of Geographic Sections because they must both be referenced in any trigger files that want to readout these systems. The table below shows this mapping with the Geographic Section numbers in hex.
