Hertzsprung-Russell Diagram
Created
by Elnar Hertzsprung and Henry Russell
In the
Hertzsprung-Russell Diagram (HR Diagram) each star is represented by a
dot. The location of the dot on the
diagram represents the star’s luminosity and temperature. The y-axis is luminosity in Lumes and the
x-axis is surface temperature in Kelvin.
As you can see, all the stages of a stars life are represented on the HR Diagram. It shows all the stages luminosity and temperature in that stage.
