Applet: Space Travel

This applet lets you travel on board of the starship Enterprise and explore ... the practical consequences of special relativity. There are two sliders in this applet that you can use:

grab the yellow slider at the bottom and adjust the velocity, b.
use the red slide in the middle to adjust the distance, in light years, that you want the ship to travel.
then click on the START button, and off you go.

Displayed will be the starship - properly length contracted - on it's trip, as well as (in red) the time on board of the Enterprise and the time (in yellow) on Earth. This applet also shows the solution to the twin paradox.
