The DØ Collaboration Plans for the Fermilab Tevatron, 2000-2009

A Plain English Run Plan

This document describes the plans of the DØ Collaboration which is a High Energy Physics program pursing experiments at the Fermilab Tevatron. This is an independent electronic essay by the scientists who are pursuing fundamental questions of physics at an amazing international laboratory located in Batavia, Illinois – we're the folks actually doing the work. We have built this document in layers: the top layers are the most basic, "Plain English" essays, accessible to non-technical readers. Each "click" into deeper layers takes the reader into more detail. Many major sections continue this layered structure so that readers can explore up to their comfort level.

We invite you to click on the red, blue, purple, or green layer below in order to sample our vision for elementary particle physics at its most basic:

We recognize the sometimes difficult nature of our work and we are eager to try to convey some of the excitement that motivates the nearly 700 of us to work for more than nearly two decades on this project. Make no mistake: we are all grateful to the taxpayers of our dozen sponsoring nations and especially to the Office of Science in the U.S. Department of Energy for entrusting to us the considerable resources necessary for us to take this scientific journey.
