changelog Saturday, August 27: the file newtonsthird.screenflow is a big file, but one that exhibits the problem. ————————————————————————————————— This is the directory with now 3 files, the two referring to my problem in stability in using an iPhone and one other. Below is the email that I sent to you. Since I sent it, I became more and more persuaded that autofocus was an issue. So I downloaded another iPhone app that is a movie app, from the same Camera+ folks, called Camera+ Pro. There are no annoying focus boxes in the movie mode and so far this might be the way to go. I’m also reminded that the Camera+ Pro instructions for fixing focus was to tap on the screen. I kind of wonder if I forgot to do that in those videos that were messed up and that autofocus was the resource problem. The other video addresses that strange save behavior that I’ve mentioned to you a couple of times. I just made another short video and so I did a Quicktime screen capture movie of me trying to save it out. YOu’ll see what I’m describing. ————————————————————————————————— Here’s the email: hi I made two movies in the course of today’s work that are identical in spirit to the ones that were problematic. One worked, and the other didn’t. I have my own ftp server and have put them both up. http://www.pa.msu.edu/~brock/file_sharing/ScreenFlow/ The file “uh_oh.screenflow.zip” gave me trouble and was the second one I made today. The file “mom_thrdlaw.screenflow 2.zip” worked fine and was the first one I made today. I zipped them up, but not much compression in either. About this setup: o I did these from my home iMac, which is brand new. The files I was talking to you about before, are from my office iMac which is about 3 years old. o Now that I’ve seen this happen on two computers…one recording under 6.0 and the other (home) recording under 6.1, I’m beginning to suspect something else is a problem. o The iPhone (BTW an iPhone 6s running up today iOS), is using the photo application Camera+. This I’ve used for all of the clips I’ve made but I’m beginning to wonder if it’s the problem. Have a look, but it seems like maybe when I move quickly, that’s when things get hairy. If Camera+ is going into spasms trying to do a fancy autofocus or something, maybe that just gets in the data path way and from that point it’s not good. The screwup in uh_oh.screenflow is that the picture gets behind the sound and the screen capture. This happened on the other files, but really distorted the video of the phone as well as mess with the audio sync. The reason I use Camera+ is that the iPhone camera has this green focus box that appears every time I move slightly and I don’t know how to get rid of it…hence, a 3rd party. A suggestion would be great. I realize that this third party is overkill for this use case. thanks Ray PS BTW, my first question to you from a month ago was that every time I make a new movie and then do save…nothing happens after naming the file in the dialog. Only when I then type command-S, does the save start with the progress bar. This happens in 6.0 and in 6.1. You sent me that same preferences delete command line when we first talked…which did not solve that problem.
