Types of Boards: ---------------- Top board is a "MZ" 63108700 CDK ESX Right Board is a "MY" 63108600 CDK ESX Bottom Board is a "MY" 63108600 CDK ESX Left Board is a "MZ" 63108700 CDK ESX under the front cover "MX" 63108500 CDK ESX under the back cover "MX" 63108500 CDK ESX These boards are really board pairs. For example the MZ board consists of the MZA and MZB board pair. The components (transistors, resistors,...) are held between the two boards of the pair. These components and wire connections to the board have been given reference designators that identify which board in the pair the component is on. Component Order Front to Back: ------------------------------ Between the Front board pair and the Back board pair there are 2 cold plates and then 12 core boards. MX Board Pair ---- Cold Plate Core Board Core Board Core Board Core Board Core Board Core Board Core Board Core Board Core Board Core Board Core Board Core Board ---- Cold Plate MX Board Pair There are a total of 24 boards in this module 6 board pairs and 12 core boards. Connections to the Boards: -------------------------- Top board is a "MZ" 63108700 CDK ESX Board Pair 8 Green tBlk pairs: 3 pairs from the Bottom Board, 5 pairs from the Top Board, all running to the 45 pin connector. Single Green: 1 wire from the Top Board running to the Right 45 pin connector. 24 White tBlk pairs: 12 pairs coming from each side of the Top MZ and running to the Core boards. Two adjacent outputs from one side of this MZ card go to a pair of connections on one corner of a core plane. The mirror pair of outputs from the other side of this MZ card go to a pair of connections on an adjacent corner of the same core plane. Thus this MZ card services every other core plane (i.e. it services a total of 6 core planes. Right Board is a "MY" 63108600 CDK ESX Board Pair 8 Green tBlk pairs: 3 pairs from the Bottom Board, 5 pairs from the Top Board, all running to the 45 pin connector. Single Green: 1 wire from the Top Board running to the Right 45 pin connector. 24 White tBlk pairs: 12 pairs coming from each side of the Right MY card. The connections to the core planes are the same as for the Top MZ card described above. Bottom Board is a "MY" 63108600 CDK ESX Board Pair 8 Green tBlk pairs: 3 pairs from the Bottom Board, 5 pairs from the Top Board, all running to the 45 pin connector. Single Green: 1 wire from the Top Board running to the Right 45 pin connector. 24 White tBlk pairs: 12 pairs coming from each side of the Bottom MY card. The connections to the core planes are the same as for the Top MZ card described above. Left Board is a "MZ" 63108700 CDK ESX Board Pair 8 Green tBlk pairs: 3 pairs from the Bottom Board, 5 pairs from the Top Board, all running to the 45 pin connector. Single Green: 1 wire from the Top Board running to the Right 45 pin connector. 24 White tBlk pairs: 12 pairs coming from each side of the Left MZ card. The connections to the core planes are the same as for the Top MZ card described above. Under the Back Cover "MX" 63108500 CDK ESX Board Pair 8 Yellow tBlk pairs: 2 pairs from each corner of the Bottom Board. These pairs run to the 45 pin connector. 2 single Yellows: 1 wire from each of two adjacent corners running to the Left 45 pin connector. 64 White Solid: 32 wires from each of two oposite sides of the MX card run to the Core Boards. These White wires connect to the core select lines which run through the stack and back to the same side of this MX card. 64 Base Stubs These are the return connection for the above 64 white wires. Under the Front Cover "MX" 63108500 CDK ESX Board Pair 8 Yellow tBlk pairs: 2 pairs from each corner of the Bottom Board. Core Boards 256 "White" Solid: 32 White wires in each direction (forward/back) on each of the 4 sides of the core Boards. These wires connect through all 12 core Boards. 64 wires come from each of the two MX Boards. 8 White tBlk pairs: Starting from the upper right hand corner with the Red-Blue pair and moving counter clockwise: upper left corner, 2 White tBlk pairs that drive the upper two horizontal sections, lower left corner, 2 White tBlk pairs that drive the lower two horizontal sections and 2 White tBlk pairs that drive the left two vertical sections, lower right corner 2 White tBlk pairs that drive the right two vertical sections. The White tBlk pairs run to the MY and MZ boards. 1 Red-Blue pair: 1 Red-Blue pair runs from each core board to one of the connectors. There is a metal plate at GND potential between each of the core planes. Going through the core stack, each succesive plane is rotated 90 degrees WRT the one before it. The Red-Blue pair on each plane goes to a gold enamel wire that diagonally loops through all cores on that plane. The core select wires (i.e. what are normally called X-Y wires) make one pass across a plane and are then connected to the next plane. These wires are gold enamel wire. I.E. a given MY card services only 6 core planes. Specifically the rear most plane is services by the top MZ card outputs 1, 2, 13, 14 and by the right MY card outputs 1, 2, 13, 14. The four basic "quadrant" enable transistors are: QB8, QA10, QB13, and QA15. Only one of these transistors is enabled (i.e. ON) at a time). This is controlled by the MYA1 and MYA5 inputs in the following way. MYA1 MYA5 On Transistor ---- ---- ------------- L L QB8 L H QA10 H L QB13 H H QA15 These four quadrant enable transistors each turn on the following emitter gate transistors. These emitter gate transistors each provide power to two adjacent output tansistors. This is all arranged in the following way.
