Once we see the distribution of these values we can decide whether it is useful to trim the output voltage or not. For use at locations K1 and K3, to make the Vtt supplies, the feedback resistor is changed from the normal 33.2k Ohm to 15.8k Ohm. On the PTN04050A modules these are size 0402 resistors. In this way the CB-Fan card requires a nominal 19.1k Ohm Vset resistor for all 4 converters. That is it uses the same value Rset resistor for both the Vtt and the Vee converters. The accuracy of setting the output voltage from these converters can be broken down into a number of components: - set point tolerance of the converter +- 3% - temperature variation over range +- 0.5% - line regulation over range +- 0.5% - load regulation over range +- 0.25% - total Vout variation over everything +- 5% This appears to be dominated by the initial set point tolerance of the converter itself. If we want to trim the Vout at the per converter level we need to recall: - for the normal converters, in the output range around -4.5V, it requires a change of about 833 Ohms in the Vset resistor per 100 mV change in the output voltage. More or less about a 1:1 change. - Increasing the value of the Vset resistor decreases the output voltage. - The as built Vset resistor is 19.1k Ohm size 0805. - For more output voltage, the next standard lower value resistors are: 18.7k 18.2k 17.8k Ohm. - For less output voltage the next standard higher value Vset resistors are: 19.6k 20.0k Ohm. - For the 2.0V supply: 1% error is 20 mV, 2% error is 40 mV, 3% error is 60 mV - For the 4.5V supply: 1% error is 45 mV, 2% error is 90 mV, 3% error is 135 mV To check the current draw you can look at the voltage drop across the output filter inductor. At 20 deg C the output filter inductor has 0.063 Ohm DC resistance. 1.0 Amp output current --> 63 mV drop.
