Wiener VME Crate shipped to HAWC Los Alamos 24-April-2019 Wiener Crate: Type: UEV-6023 Part No: OB02.0037 Serial No: 2397015 i.e. 15th item, 23 wk, 1997 Wiener Power Supply: Type: UEP-6021 Part No: OP00.0121 Serial No: 2497072 i.e. 72nd item, 24 wk, 1997 Wiener Fan Tray: normal Wiener crate front panel controls and connectors for CAN Bus monitoring This VME crate and its power supply were manufactured with special +-5V Analog power supplies instead of the normal +-12V VME supplies. These +-5V Analog supplies used the VME +-12V distribution bus lines in the backplane. All of the Wiener power supply chassis that I have left at MSU were built this way. In the power supply chassis that I'm shipping to you I have removed the special +-5V Analog supplies and installed the normal +-12V supplies (along with the high current +5V and +3.3V digital supplies that are used in VME-64x crates). This power supply chassis is setup with the following Wiener DC power modules: VME +5V Wiener U0 supply type MEH 5V 115 Amp VME +3.3V Wiener U3 supply type MEH 3.3V 115 Amp VME +-12V Wiener U1/U5 supply type MDL +-12V 11 Amp I believe that this set of DC power modules should match the other HAWC Wiener VME crates. I setup all 4 of these supplies in the default way that Wiener typically delivers their VME crate power supplies, i.e. the Voltage Monitor (Umon) limits are 95% to 105% of the nominal output and the SCR Crowbar (OVP) limit is 125%. - If the crate's built in monitoring system detects a supply output outside of its upper and lower Voltage Monitor (Umon) limits then it turns OFF that DC power module. - If the crowbar circuit inside of the DC power module itself detects the the module output above the OVP limit then it triggers the SCR crowbar to short circuit the output of that module. I have tested the Umax and OVP limits on the +-12V MDL DC power module that I installed in the power supply chassis. I ran and checked all 4 of the supplies under load. The detailed setup of this VME Crate is: VME Power Bus +5 Volt +12 Volt +3.3 Volt -12 Volt --------- -------- --------- -------- Wiener U Supply U0 U1 U3 U5 Channel Name +5V0 +5V0 +3V3 -5V0 Label on Front Panel Display ILim 115A 7.5A 115A 7.5A Uadj 0% 0% 0% 0% Unom 5.00V +12.0V 3.30V -12.0V (3.21) (3.20) OVP 6.25V +15.0V 4.00V -15.0V (4.00) (4.00) Monitor Imax 115A 7.5A 115A 7.5A Monitor Umin 4.75V 11.40V 3.15V 11.40V Monitor Umax 5.25V 12.60V 3.50V 12.60V Typical Front 4.99V 12.08V 3.31V 12.08V Panel Display Known Good 5.012V 12.085V 3.310V 12.066V DVM Reading I labeled the test points for measuring these VME Bus voltages on the back side of the backplane if you want to check them. Measuring on the back side of the backplane eliminates the risk of damaging a backplane connector by trying to plug a meter test probe into it. I shipped an instruction book and a power cord with this Wiener VME Crate. If you are doing your own maintenance I have the more technical service manual for these crates.
