Scope Pictures from the Bo Cold DAQ PFH-2 & CMB-16 Electronics ------------------------------------------------------------------ Rev. 7-Sept-2010 Pictures 31:34 below should be the standard "as built" performance for the cards made in the fall of 2010. Scope Pictures 0:3 from 2-July-2010 These 4 pictures were made with the standard 3.5 fC collection plane test signal. The CMB driver stage was setup with 2x parallel 6.81k resistors for Rd and a 412 Ohm resistor for Rs. The PFH-2 channel filter was setup with 2 of the 239 uH inductors (assumed to be 250 uH), a 2.2 nFd capacitor, and an 820 Ohm input resistor. picture 0 is 32 sweeps at RT picture 1 is a single sweep at RT picture 2 is 32 sweeps at LN picture 3 is a single sweep at LN Scope Pictures 4:8 from 14 and 16 July 2010 These 5 pictures were made with the standard 3.5 fC collection plane test signal. The CMB driver stage was setup with a 3.4k resistor for Rd and a 412 Ohm resistor for Rs. Note that two transistors are running in both the input and output section of the CMB driver. The PFH-2 channel (lower channel) filter was setup with just 1 of the 470 uH inductors (from the new purchase), a 465 Ohm input resistor, and a 1.8 nFd capacitor. picture 4 is a single sweep at RT picture 5 is the average of 32 sweeps at RT picture 6 is a single sweep at LN picture 7 is the average of 32 sweeps at LN picture 8 is the same as #7 but taken after 44 hrs of LN operation Scope Pictures 9:15 from 29-July-2010 : 1-Aug-10 These are the first pictures using a WRP-16 card in signal path. The scope is looking at just the positive side of the WRP-16's differential output. This is not using a 10x scope probe but rather the scope is tied directly to the WRP-16 output via a short coaxal cable. The CMB driver stage was setup with a 3.4k resistor for Rd and a 412 Ohm resistor for Rs. Note that two transistors are running in both the input and output section of the CMB driver. The PFH-2 SN #3 channel (lower channel) filter was setup in the current standard way: 820 pFd 2k Ohm differentiator stage, 470 Ohm series resistor, 470 uH single inductor, 1.8 nFd capacitor, and 2k Ohm shunt resistor second stage. PFH-2 SN #3 is in slot Ch #0 & #1 of the CMB-16 and PFH-2 SN #2 is in slot Ch #10 & #11 of the CMB-16. Those are the only filled CMB-16 slots for this test. The test signal is going into Ch #1. The PFH-2s and CMB-16 were both made in the current standard way. Pictures 9:13 were made with the standard 3.5 fC collection plane test signal. Pictures 14, 15 were made with a 2.63 fC induction plane signal. This was the standard induction plane waveform but it was reduced in amplitude to better fit the scope display. picture 9 a single sweep at RT picture 10 the average of 32 sweeps at RT picture 11 a single sweep at LN picture 12 the average of 32 sweeps at LN picture 13 the average of 32 sweeps at LN after 50 Hrs running cold picture 14 the average of 32 sweeps at LN after 50 Hrs running cold picture 15 a single sweep at LN after 50 Hrs running cold Scope Pictures 16:19 from 13-Aug-2010 These pictures use a WRP-16 card in signal path. The PFH-2 SN #8 channel (lower channel) filter was setup in the current standard way: 820 pFd 2k Ohm differentiator stage, 470 Ohm series resistor, 470 uH single inductor, 1.8 nFd capacitor, and 2k Ohm shunt resistor second stage. The Q1 drain resistor has been moved to 470 Ohms (from the old 412 Ohm standard). The purpose of this picture series is to study the effect of changing the differentiator capacitor from 820 pFd to 680 pFd. These 4 scope pictures are all at RT. To study the effect of changing the Q1 Rd from 412 to 470 compare picture 10 to picture 16. picture 16 820 pFd standard collection signal 32 sweeps at RT picture 17 680 pFd standard collection signal 32 sweeps at RT picture 18 820 pFd 50 mV std induction signal 32 sweeps at RT picture 19 680 pFd 50 mV std induction signal 32 sweeps at RT Scope Pictures 20:22 from 19-Aug-2010 Scope Pictures 22:26 from 20-Aug-2010 These pictures use a WRP-16 card in signal path. The scope is looking at just the positive side of the WRP-16's differential output. This is not using a 10x scope probe but rather the scope is tied directly to the WRP-16 output via a short coaxal cable. This is with standard CMB driver stage setup, i.e. 3.4k resistor for Rd and a 412 Ohm resistor for Rs. The PFH-2 SN #8 channel (lower channel) filter was setup in the new current standard way: 680 pFd 2k Ohm differentiator stage, 470 Ohm series resistor, 470 uH single inductor, 1.8 nFd capacitor, and 2k Ohm shunt resistor second stage. The Q1 drain resistor is 470 Ohms the tentitive new standard. The purpose of this picture series is to look at the: gain, signal shape, and noise with the system cold. picture 20 standard collection signal average 32 sweeps at RT picture 21 standard collection signal average 32 sweeps at LN picture 22 standard collection signal 1 sweep at LN Notes: picture 20 should look exact;y like picture 17 compare picture 21 with pictures 12 or 13 compare picture 22 with picture 11 After being at LN temperature for about 27 hours and after having the Bias Voltage set to 350 Volts for about 6 hours take the four following scope pictures: picture 23 standard collection signal 1 sweep at LN 350 BV picture 24 standard collection signal avg 32 sweeps at LN 350 BV picture 25 std but 50 mV induction signal 1 sweep at LN 350 BV picture 26 std but 50 mV induction signal avg 32 sweeps at LN 350 BV Scope Pictures 27:28 from 1-Sept-2010 Scope Pictures 29:30 from 2-Sept-2010 Scope Pictures 31:34 from 3-Sept-2010 Scope Pictures 35:36 from 7-Sept-2010 These pictures use a WRP-16 card in signal path. The scope is looking at just the positive side of the WRP-16's differential output.
