Following the Fast IR Camera reviews on 24 and 25 January 1997 I have the following updates, changes, additions to the design of this camera. 1. A buffer amp to receive the signal from the TCM array will be added to the design. Beside providing a "high impedance" for receiving the analog signal from the TCM array signal, including this buffer makes sense because it provides an independent easy way to control the gain of the analog processor. Changing the gain of the filter blocks requires changing both resistors and capacitors. We will also include a 100 Ohm resistor on the rock card to isolate the TCM array from the capacitance of the line that connects it to the analog processor (and to provide back termination). 2. The TCM2550 requires 14 digital control signals. The D_Card can provide up to 17 digital signals so there should be no problem operating the TCM2550. For any kind of normal operation some of the digital control signals going to the TCM2550 can be set to static levels. I still need to understand how many analog voltages the TCM2550 requires. It is clear the the TCM2550 will require a different ROCK card, and additional (different) FPGA configuration code, and 68k code. 3. The pin compatible 10 mega sample per second ADC from Datel (ADS-947MC) does appear to be available. It is $682 each with 3-4 week delivery. 4. We need to start understanding the interface to the SUN workstation. We will need a working SUN with its digital interface in order to lab test the camera electronics. This clearly also requires code to run on the SUN to acquire the data an analyze it. We need to define the details of this "default data connection to the Host" so that it can be developed on the same schedule as the camera electronics. 5. Need to put documentation about the VME Timing Generator (i.e. THE_Card aka FM Module) on the WEB site. 6. When this Fast IR Camera is used with other peripheral equipment (e.g. a shutter or a polarizer) then the Timing Generator will master the timing of both the camera itself and the peripherals. 7.
