Obtaining Awk and Perl

*Return to htmlchek documentation

This document gives a list of the versions of awk and Perl that are available for various platforms, in order to run htmlchek. I have not personally verified all these links; fortunately, several alternatives are provided in most cases (you can also try an archie search). Neither Awk nor Perl has a Windows-specific version, so that Windows users should get an MS-DOS port. (However, the MS-DOS version of Perl does include special Windows support.)

Subject: announcement of patch 5 to gawk 2.15

This is to announce the release of patch 5 for gawk version 2.15. Gawk (GNU awk) provides a superset of POSIX awk, a pattern scanning and data manipulation language. This version is available as gawk-2.15.5.tar.gz on the gnu archive sites.

Most GNU software is packed using the new `gzip' compression program.

For information on how to order GNU software on tape, floppy, or cd-rom, check the file etc/ORDERS in the GNU Emacs distribution or in GNUinfo/ORDERS on prep.ai.mit.edu, or e-mail a request to: gnu@prep.ai.mit.edu
