Tube Furnace Operation
- Read the Furnace Safety Concerns .
- Place the furnace on a table top.
- Insert a 1'' or a 2'' alumina processing tube inside the furnace
to avoid any damage to the heating elements in the side
wall of the furnace.
Note:
The insulating material in the tube contains
refractory ceramic fiber which can produce respirable
fibers and dust when handled. These fibers or dusts can
cause skin irritation and can aggravate pre-existing
respiratory disease. The skin irritaion goes away after
a while. However, I cannot comment about the respiratory
problem.
- Turn on the power. The furnace will ramp up to the previous
set temperature (usually 200C) before it was shutdown.
- Set the temperature
to a desired value.
- Set the Over Temperature Protection (OTP).
- Insert load in the furnace.
- Shut Down Procedure : Bring the furnace temperature
down to 200 C. Turn off the power.
