Brown’s books are often thought-provoking. There are some shocking whoppers, but usually he’s just close enough to plausibility that people either get upset (remember the furor over the DaVinci code) or they dig in and research topics themselves. That’s what this 5 lecture series course is about.
We’ll hop from the 17th century to the 20th: from Bernini’s studio in Rome and Galileo’ laboratory in Padua to the ultimate scientific laboratory where we work at CERN in Geneva, Switzerland.
I’ll presume no prior knowledge of the history, no familiarity with Rome or Baroque art, and no prior knowledge of the science.
The course is a part of the Michigan State University Alumni Association Evening College Course series during November and December 2009. Registration and information can be found here.
