Current Research

I did my Ph.D. with Prof. Phil Duxbury. The topic of my research was the Application of Optimization Algorithm in Condensed Matter Physics. One of these applications is calculating the ground state of a random field Ising model (RFIM) using a maximum flow algorithm.
RFIM (sc) rendering. Click for the MPEG movie (4MB).

Resources

The ISI Citation Database is a good start to for literature search.( MSU link)
Are you doing computational physics? LEDA, provides a variety of algorithms and data structures so you don't have to reinvent the wheel. Unfortunately, since its move to Algorithic Solutions it's no longer available for free.
Many other libraries and resources for numerics with object oriented languages can be found at oonumerics.org

Publications

Talks

  • "Domain Structures and First Order Behavior in the Random-Field Ising Model", APS March meeting 2000
  • "Introduction to Knot Theory", Dept. of Physics & Astronomy, MSU December 1999
  • "Algorithms for Disordered Magnets and Flux Lines", 1999 SIAM Annual meeting (Invited Talk, replacing Heiko Rieger)
