Movie Review Assignment
DUE: April 14, beginning of class.
POINTS: 5 points each, maximum 2.
DOCUMENTS: none.
DESCRIPTION: The available movies are typically NOVA-class productions and generally very good. I'll show one almost every Monday about 5:45. We will show one full-length motion picture on the life of Marie Curie, which is just for fun and not for review. You'll need a hankie.
if you cannot make one of the Monday's, or if you want to memorize the dialog of a movie you already saw, you can check it out from me. I'm going to be buying some more movies and I'll make a list of what's available soon.
So, here is what I would like for a report to contain:
Short paragraphs:
Why you chose the movie. Give me a motivation.
What did you think were the movie's positive points and its shortcomings?
What did you already know about the subject matter? Be specific as to scientific matters that you already knew before hand.
What did you come away learning from this movie? Be specific as to scientific matters that you learned. List as many of them as you can.
Would you recommend it? If so, why? If not, why not? How many
's would you give this movie?
Five
's means that as a public
service you feel obligated to kidnap strangers
off the street to see it in order that they
will have the same life-changing experience
that you did?
If you use materials from outside of class texts, lecture, or the movie itself...I'll be impressed. For example, if you review a movie about Roger Bacon (there isn't one), and you include material from a library book or web site about Roger Bacon...I'lll be impressed. I'll be especially impressed if you find a difference in what you read to what you saw!
