Description

Weltgeld is yet another personal finance manager. Instead of using a check register like interface for every account it uses an expenses book as a central entry port.
This allows you to enter all your expenses without having to switch between your different accounts.

• Personal information setup wizard makes it easy to get started and keep all personal information needed for financial matters in one place.
• Account setup wizard to create new account of different kinds (checking, savings, credit card, investment, giro, ...) quickly.

• Icon representation of accounts and expense catagories for a quick selection

• Automatic interest and dividend calculations

Motivation

I want to write Weltgeld (="World Money") as an exercise in software design and Java^TM programming. Weltgeld uses internationalization from the start so that it can be used in many different countries and languages. The first implementation will support English and German.

The Competition

Maybe you cannot wait until Weltgeld is far enough for even casual use or maybe you would much rather stick with your familiar check register interface. In that case have a look at some of these programs.

• GNUCash is a personal financ program written in C and published under the GNU license.
• Moneydance is the first personal finance manager written entirely in Java. It has many nice features and is definitely worth a look. Unfortunately it is not free anymore since version 2.
